Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) builds parts in .006" layers of nylon 12 or glass filled nylon 12 EOSsint materials.  SLS is a good solution when the material properties of the nylon are desirable.   Typically this is characterized by a higher heat deflection temperature, toughness, or the need for a living hinge.

SLS parts are used in a variety of applications including:

  • Models for communication and verification – form and fit, communication/presentation for sales and marketing, manufacturing aids
  • Parts for verification and testing – functional testing, wind tunnel models
  • Patterns and tools – holding tools and fixtures, sand casting patterns
  • Short-run production – non-cosmetic parts in short quantities – where either the lead time or the cost of alternative processes (typically molding) are prohibitive – or there is a high likelihood of change.

Materials used:

  • 3200 GF 30% Glass-filled nylon
  • 2200 PA Nylon
